Cars with air-conditioned seats can come as a huge relief in summer months. Read on to know how these work.
Most cars these days come with heated seats. This technology keeps the seats warm when the rest of the interiors become icy cold during the winters. However, air-conditioned seats are a comparatively newer technology, which you only see in select car models. This facility is very useful for people living in hot, temperate zones. You might have come across scorching hot seats when you park your car in the sun for long, especially if you have leather covers. Driving on such burning seats is anything but comfortable. You probably cover them with blankets when you get out of the car, to prevent them from heating. However, air-conditioned seats can relieve you of all this hassle, and make your journey comfortable.
How They Work
Being a new technology, such seats found in only specific car makes. The system allows you to cool all the seats. These come in the form of perforated seat covers with special cushions. The cool air is passed through the perforations by running motors. Depending upon the individual car manufacturer, the air conditioning mechanism differs to some extent. Some cars simply blow uncooled air through the perforations to achieve an air conditioning effect, whereas some come with a special cooling element. Needless to say, the latter version costs you more.
The air conditioning facility is available for the back as well as bottom of the seats. Some cars come with a climate-control setting for the seat air conditioners. Besides, some of them even offer individual settings. Meaning, you can set the control of the seat at a desired temperature, and save your setting. Likewise, other family members can also do so. Thus, the next time you sit in the car, you simply have to push your individual setting, instead of fumbling with the numerous controls. This feature is very useful for family cars, often driven by various members of the family.
