Instead of spending your precious dollars on replacing your car carpet, enhance your car interiors by dyeing it instead. Read on for an easy guide for dyeing a car carpet…
Similar to the carpet in your house, the carpet in your car is prone to getting dirty or stained or faded, over time. Getting a new carpet for your car, every couple of years, can become very expensive. However, with the dyeing kits available in the market, you no longer need to invest in a new one, as your old carpet can be easily dyed and given an absolutely new look, at home itself, by making use of these kits.
Tips for Dyeing a Car Carpet
Before starting with the procedure, let us know what all things come in the car carpet dye kit. Most of the kits available in the market contain four things, namely, the dye concentrate, spray bottle, stain remover and a bleach neutralizer. Some kits might have a scrub brush and a red stain remover as well. When choosing a kit, go in for a color that is one tone darker than the original color of your carpet. This will ensure that you get a bright look on the carpet. However, keep the color as close as possible to the original one to avoid an uneven effect.
For those of you who do not want to buy the entire kit, you can get individual dye concentrates as well, with which you can carry out the dyeing procedure. The things that you would need to carry out the below suggested stepwise procedure are – a spray bottle, wash cloth, scrub brush, stain remover and a vacuum cleaner.
Step 1
Remove the carpet from the vehicle and vacuum it thoroughly to get rid of the dirt and soil. Next, take the stain remover that comes with the kit and apply it on any stains on the carpet. Immediately, follow this up with scrubbing out the stains with the help of a wet wash cloth. Try to clean the carpet as much as you can. The more cleaner and stain-free the carpet is, the more even and neater look you can expect from the carpet dyes. Let the carpet dry out completely, before moving on to the next step.
Step 2
Read the instructions that come with the kit and accordingly mix the dye concentrate with water. Put the resultant mixture in the spray bottle that comes with the kit. Follow this up by spraying this mixture on to the carpet. Make sure that you spray the mixture evenly on the entire carpet.
Step 3
Take the brush which comes with the kit and scrub the dye with it in such a way that it spreads on the carpet. In fact, if you can spray the mixture and scrub side by side, it will give an even better result. After you have covered the entire carpet, give it time to dry.
Step 4
When the carpet becomes dry, replace it back into your car. The new, enhanced and bright carpet is sure to add to the look of your car interiors.
With this easy method, now you can easily carry this procedure at home. With this method, your carpet will look stain-free, bright and brand new! And the best part is, once you have dyed the car carpet, it will last you for years. Even if the carpet gets wet due to washing or cleaning or for any other reason, still the dye would not come off.
Although, the whole process will require immense patience on your part as you will be dealing with dyes, stain removers, taking out and replacing the carpet back to your vehicle, etc, yet the result that you get and the amount of money that you save, makes the whole effort worth it.
